Walking around Berlin for two days we saw some incredible sites – and all for free. It was absolutely freezing when we went, I’d taken three changes of clothes for the three days we were there but ended up wearing them all at the same time. January in Berlin = cold. We got the flights for £40 return each about three months before from Ryanair – cheap as chips!

The cold didn’t stop us investigating Berlin on foot though. In fact we walked a bit further and faster to keep warm. We spent a lot of time in Kunst en Tascheles, an incredible independent art gallery that’s in an old shopping centre. Squatters took over and made it their home with artists having a small section to do with what they wish. For the past few years there have been talks of tearing it down so go while you still can…
