Belgium. You might think chocolate, beer and fries, but I think all of those things + festivals. I’m off to Brussels and St Germain on Thursday to check out the electro, minimal, dub step themed party that is Dour Festival.
With sets from the likes of Booka Shade, Simian Mobile Disco, Gold Panda and DJ Shadow, and a VIP ticket in my pocket – this is going to be an epic weekend. And the weather man tells me the sun is out in force – bit different to my Glastonbury experience then.
Really excited to be travelling there via the Eurostar. Still amazes me that you can go underwater by train and be so far away in less than two hours. No mad dashes to the airport and waiting around. Just going to get started on the ciders on the way there and party on through until Monday.
So three nights at the festival and then, because I’m not into the headliners Smashing Pumpkins at all and I have to do the London Triathlon the following weekend, we’ve decided to stay in Brussels on the Sunday night.
This is when I’ll be sampling the Belgian chocolates and chips – I’m sure I’ll have had enough of the beer at the festival. We might pop into Bruges too depending on how much time we have, and how with it we are.
So coming from a clueless weekend tripper with no time to do any research – got any Bruges or Brussels tips for me?
