October has been one of the craziest months for my travels I’ve had. Kind of feel like I haven’t had a minute to write them up, mainly because I’ve been travelling with other people so much. As in real people, not just jetting off round the world on my lonesome.

There’s not really any sign of it slowing down for the next few months either, but more on that later.

My adventures in October

30th to the 3rd

I stayed at the Hoburne Bashley Holiday Park in the New Forest with three of my best friends. It was a relaxing and fun weekend retreat, complete with country walks, country walks and bacon croissants.

How to Have a Brilliant Weekend in the New Forest

3rd to the 9th

My best mate has just moved into a beautiful house, with four bedrooms near the New Forest. So obviously I needed to go and check the place out. I had a great week catching up with work and hanging out with her and her husband in the evenings. Got well into that TV show Hunted. Have you seen it? I want to apply.

10th to 13th

Travelling in Rovinj

We spent my birthday in Rovinj, Croatia. The two of us had a great few days, eating, drinking, chatting and chilling at the spa. I’ve got two posts lined up to go live about this this week, I’d definitely say it’s a great spot for a weekend break from the UK.

15th to 22nd

The big one! I went to Costa Rica for a week, on a press trip. Guys, it was absolutely incredible. I still haven’t had chance to look through my photos, but I took loads, and loads of video too. You can expect to be bombarded by turtles, tasty food pics and stories of sloths and toucans very soon.

25th to 26th

I took mum for a girlie getaway to Ragdale Hall for her birthday. We had back massages, facials, and relaxed in the thermal spa. Ragdale Hall is definitely one of the best spas I’ve been to, in the world.

27th to 1st

And to finish one of the best months I’ve ever had off, I went to Barcelona with my parents to see my brother. Really, really love the city. If my future wasn’t in England, it would be here, for sure.

Posts from October

Pheweee, this has taken a hit this month. I’ve had to prioritise all my freelance paid contracts over my blog as I haven’t had much working time and so there’s not been much on here. I’ve got so many stories to tell and photos to upload but no time to do it.

Here’s what I managed…

You guys seemed to like the article Being Old and Getting Older. I usually like to do some kind of celebratory post for my birthday but I think this year I just felt like I was getting older, as in older, and have really started to notice it.

Since I wrote that though, I haven’t really given my age a moment’s thought!

Coming up in November

In Rovinj in Croatia

– Me and my birthday cake in Rovinj, Croatia

I’m spending the next two weeks in London. It’s the annual World Travel Market (WTM) which means representatives come from all over the world to speak with people from every sector of travel to promote their destination. It’s a huge event, with over 50,000 people in attendance every day at the Excel Centre in London.

So many parties, so many people and so many meetings. Hopefully it’ll lead to exciting activities for 2017!

I’ve booked an AirBnB room in Poplar, near the venue, so I have a sanctuary of my own away from the craziness. It’s always a lot of fun, and very interesting, but totally exhausting.

This year I’m a speaker at WTM and will be talking on the Wednesday at the student event, all about getting started in travel blogging, of course. If you’re around, come!

And then I’m off to the USA!

It’s an interesting time to be going, just a few days after the election, but with all my time in the country this year I’m kinda fasicnated with the politics, so I jumped at the opportunity. I’ll be starting in California, then going to Arizona – a new state for me – and then onto Nevada. I’m not saying too much because I’m not 100% sure it’s going ahead, and don’t want to look silly :).

Best thing in October

Getting to spend quality time with my favourite people. The absolute best thing about the freelance career I’ve made for myself is that I work as much as I like. Right now, seeing as I don’t have many outgoings, I can pick and choose my hours and that means saying yes to opportunities to hang out with friends and being able to work intensively when I had time, and then have a few days off to chill and gather more stories.

So yes, hanging with my family (and going to see The Chemical Brothers in Barcelona) and best mates, and then some of my favourite travel bloggers on our trip to Costa Rica have made this an October of all Octobers. If that’s a thing.

The guys from Talk Radio Europe had heard me being interviewed on BBC Radio Derby last month, and invited me to come on their English speaking channel in Spain. Here’s the interview in its entirety on SoundCloud if you want to hear me talk about how much I get paid, where I was off to next and plans for the future.

Thanks for reading, and just let me know if there’s something
more you’d like me to include in my monthly round ups.

I’m at your service.
