Oh my gawd there are so, many, festivals. I feel like the more you go to the more you hear about. And the more you hear about the more you want to go to. No one would want my life.

This year I’ve already been to Hogmanay in Edinburgh, SXSW in Austin, Hogs for the Cause, the French Quarter Festival and the Jazz Festival in New Orleans. They’ve been awesome, although, if you follow me on Snapchat you’ll have seen that the Jazz Festival was a total washout and after the Saturday getting cancelled I had to trudge through knee deep water to get out. Hopefully I’ll see Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg and Neil Young some other time.

summer festivals 2016

So this summer I have a few festivals that top my list. Number 1 and 5 are definite, I’ve got my tickets and I’m ready.

As for the others, I’m still trying to persuade some friends to come along (I have my ways) but I really, really want to check them out.

1. Sonar: 1519 June

Barcelona! I’m going to my favourite European city to visit my bro who lives there and to go to Sonar Festival. Headliners this year include Richie Hawtin, Anohni and Fatboy. I don’t really understand Sonar festival, as it’s at different locations throughout the city, but it will be cool to finally experience it and work it out, as I’ve wanted to go for a long time.

2. Secret Garden Party: 2125 July

Surely one of the coolest festivals in the UK, right? Secret Garden Party is a bit of a mystery. I’m not really up on any of the headliners – bar Shura and DJ Shadow – but I do know that you get to dress up and wear lots of glitter while partying in a forest, which is enough information for me.

3. Wilderness: 47 August

It’s not just a great music line up for Wilderness, this is a festival all about food too, which, as you may have noticed, is a great passion of mine. It’s located just outside London and is responsible for a bit of a Shoreditch Migration every year, and in 2016 I want to join them. There are banquets over long tables, some of the top chefs are coming and there’s also a whole theatre programme going on too. Get me in there!

4. Edinburgh Fringe: 1424 August

Pretty much fell in love with Edinburgh when I went for Hogmanay for New Year’s Eve. Love the place. I also love to laugh, to drink and to go to festivals so I’m going to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, hopefully. Need to get my arse in gear for this one, tickets for the shows are on sale now!

5. Rock en Seine: 2628 August – WIN TICKETS!

My summer of festivals

I’m off to Rock en Seine VIP style – oo yeah. Well excited to see Massive Attack, Last Shadow Puppets and Sigur Ros. This is another festival I’ve wanted to go to for a long time, I mean, it’s in Paris, one of my most favourite cities. I’m going along with some excellent friends and we’re glamming it up with a hotel for this one, basically so we can get a good sleep as Paris is hawt in August, and so we can try and look nice, for Iggy Pop.

6. Festival No 6: 15 September

Festival No 6 kind of looks like the Welsh answer to Burning Man. I’ve wanted to go for a while but this year will be the first that that particular weekend is free. Music, paddleboarding, installations, comedy, all in what looks like a stunning location. Another one where the glitters, wigs and onesie lycras are encouraged judging by the photos on their Facebook!
