My Festival Summer 2019

So the Glastonbury line up is out, the festivals are trying to outdo each other with their creativity, and we’re all trying to decide which festivals are worth the effort. Well, my festival summer for 2019 is slowly coming together and I’m mixing in some international festivals, with a few just a little closer to home.

Smaller festivals are just so much easier to plan for – and they’re a lot easier to get served at when you’re finally there too.

But, there’s just something about the excitement of going to a bigger festival, dontcha think?

My Festival Summer 2019

May 2019

Brighton Fringe Festival, England

3rd May to 2nd June

My festivals for 2019

Last year I went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was an amazing experience and I’d been wanting to go for years, but it did make me realise that there are lots of other Fringe festivals to try out. The Ventnor Fringe looks amazing (on the Isle of Wight, 23 to 28th July 2019), but I’ll be in Canada.

So the closest one to me in Southsea is the Brighton Fringe Festival

Brighton Fringe runs for a month with over 4500 performances. It’s now England’s largest arts festival with every kind of entertainment you could ever imagine on the line up. If the Edinburgh Fringe was anything to go by, there’s probably loads you couldn’t’ve thought of in your wildest dreams too.

I REALLY want to go to this, but nothing is booked in just yet. I’ll make it happen.

June 2019

Samoa Independence Day, Samoa

1st June

Samoa for festivals

I’m going to Samoa!

I can’t quite believe it either. I’ll be going to Samoa to join the Independence Day celebrations on the 1st June. This is when the country became independent of New Zealand back in 1962.

I’m expecting lots of interesting insights into the Samoan culture, and to just have fun on the South Pacific island on the run up, and after too. I’ll be there for a week. This is going to be a good one!

Glastonbury Festival, England

26th to 30th June

Glasto Festival line up

Yay Glastonbury!

This will be my third time at Glasto, and despite the line up lacking a certain something this year – I’m still super excited to go with my friends and party the week away. Although I am looking forward to taking it a bit slower this year. In 2017 I went way to hard and was rough as a dog by day 3.

This year: cider and sleep, rather than the wine and all nighters of 2017.

George Ezra, Christine and the Queens and Shura are my top 3 from the Glasto line up 2019.

July 2019

British Summer Time Hyde Park, London

Celine Dion

5th July

Festivals for 2019

I’m going to see Celine Dion!

Fun fact, I love a bit of Celine, and so do two of my favourite friends Fiona and Mel. We’re going to watch her play Hyde Park in London. Pretty excited about this one…

Especially since they’ve announced Josh Groban. I LOVE HIM.

Dawson City Music Festival, Canada

19th to 21st July

Festivals for 2019

The Yukon in Canada is one of the least populated states, and will be a real adventure for this solo traveller. I’m heading out there to see the Dawson City Music Festival, and to see how they do festivals in Canada.

It’s the 41st year of the festival and I’m looking forward to learning a bit more about Canadian music, beyond the almighty Celine Dion (and the Biebs). Also, Dawson City is famous for making people drink an elixir with a real person’s toe in it. I’m so disturbed by this, but apparently it’s a must while I’m there. Eugh.

Southsea Thai Festival

27th to 28th July

Southsea Thai Festival

I love that Southsea has a Thai festival. I guess if you can’t afford to go to Thailand, then let Thailand come to you.

A sunny day and I’m sure you’d barely know the difference.

I’ve never been before but apparently there’s traditional Thai boxing, Thai massage, Thai craft stalls, dancing, and even a lady boy show. What more could you want?

Also, FOOD. I’m just going for that TBH. Anything else is a bonus.

August 2019

Boomtown Festival

(tentative)

Line up for Boomtown

7th to 11th

I’ve been wanting to go to Boomtown for years.

And this year it just looks that bit more exciting compared to the other festivals GB is offering – with unique areas, an interesting line up and dress up encouraged. Anyone I know who’s been has said it’s amazing.

Feel like this could be my year to check this one out.

Victorious Festival

23rd to 26th August

Line up for Victorious festival

Oh it wouldn’t be summer without a bit of Victorious in my life!

This is the festival that’s just down the road from my house, about a mile away in fact. The line up looks great for 2019. I’m well excited for All Saints, Rudimental, Bloc Party and Professor Green too.

And that’s the lot.

Nine festivals. Gawd, looks quite overwhelming doesn’t it?!

Well excited though. A few new far off festivals, mixed in with some oldies – this summer is going to be amazing!

How about you?
