My-Picture Review: Show Off Your Pics!

When was the last time you printed a photo?

I actually used to work in the Boots photo lab when I was at school, processing film. I can totally remember when digital photography was just going mainstream – and look at us now. Thousands of pics at our fingertips on our phones, but never the time or thought to print them out professionally to decorate our homes.

Obviously I have my blog to show off my pics but I do often wonder where all these pics that everyone takes are going. Are Facebook albums still a thing? Do people upload to Flickr? Or do you keep your photos to yourself on your phone and just browse through them when there’s no Wi-Fi and you’ve got nothing better to do?

You spend a lot of money on travelling, on creating these memories and experiences, why not spend a little more and get the memory cemented for you to enjoy when you step into your home?

I thought it’d be the perfect union to bring some of my travels to the walls in my new home. My-Picture gave me the opportunity to pick a product from their site and get my photo printed on it.

I looked through the photo gifts – the mugs, the mouse mats, and the puzzles – the canvases and the photo books, and finally decided on a framed print to go on the photo wall in my new travel themed office.

It took me ages to decide on which picture to go for – I wanted one of me, but not too ‘of me’ and I wanted one that bought back happy times. I chose this one of me sitting on a bench up high on the mountains of Saas Fee in Switzerland to join the rest on my photo wall. It’d been a great weekend with my friend Fiona, just eating our way round the food festival there, and enjoying the hotel, and the views from the mountain side had just been incredible.

I thought it would be a great picture to inspire me to carry on when I’m beavering away on my laptop.

I ordered the framed pic on Friday – with the walnut finish – and it was here on the Tuesday. It was easy to upload to the site and I was really happy with the quality of the frame and the printing when it arrived. I’ve never ordered anything like this before and so I was worried about whether I’d like it or not, but as soon as I opened it I knew I did.

Hey Vicky, Get yourself a polarizing filter to go on your lens. Very handy for shooting through windows, glass or anything that reflects light, like water etc. Just pop it on and twist the angle of it and, voila, the reflections vanish. Simple, cheap and very effective. Cheers.

Oh ok, great tip, thanks Bob. I found it so difficult to get a picture of the picture!
