Next Up: A Trip With VIBE Israel to… Israel!

Big day today – I’m off to Israel.

A fascinating country, for many reasons, I’m sure you’ll agree. I’m off to explore with VIBE Israel. VIBE Israel is a non profit organisation from Tel Aviv that run tours to show what they call ‘opinion leaders’ (like me!) what Israel is really all about.

I can’t believe how quickly the trip has come around. I’ve just checked the final itinerary and it’s quite possible that I’m in for one of the most interesting weeks of my life. EXCITED.

– Thanks to Ronsho for the featured photos from Flickr.

Edit: My Posts

I’ve edited the original of this post to fit in the posts I’m going to write on the experience…

Food glorious food

After eating everything I could in my final week in India, then enjoying welcome home food in England, then stuffing my face with cheese, ham, breads and sangria this last week in Spain, I’m looking forward to keeping up the weight gain with special Israeli dinners planned every night.

On the first evening we’re going for dinner with EatWith – a company that offers group dinners with friends, both those that you have and haven’t met yet. I’ve heard about this concept before and so I’m really excited to get involved.

Something tells me I’m going to know more than ‘falafel’ by the end of this trip.

Day time fun time

Israel Tel Aviv

I’m really looking forward to a tech talk we’re having with some of the start ups in super hipster Tel Aviv. I love hearing about future technology and talking to entrepreneurs and it’ll be great to see some of the ideas the people of Tel Aviv are working on.

I read this article the other day that said Tel Aviv is the second most hipster place in the world, after Williamsburg in NYC (been there!) and ahead of Shoreditch in London (and there!). I’m very excited to see this, although I’m sure I’ll feel underdressed. Maybe in an ironic way?

Highlight of a day

Another itinerary highlight for me is the day that reads like this…

“Wake up in Galillee. Go ATV riding round the nature of Upper Galilee. Spend the evening at the Vintage Wine Festival at Golan Heights Winery.”

Who could ask for anything more?

#VFFIsrael + Periscope

I’m going to try a few new things for this week, after feeling inspired by TBEX, the travel blogger conference I was at in Spain.

1. I’m going to use a hashtag on social media with #VFFIsrael. It makes it easier to collect all my pics, pins, instragrams, and updates at the end. Just let me know if you find this annoying.

2. And I’m going all Periscope up on this trip too. Have you downloaded the app yet? It’s basically like live streaming but I can just show you things that I’m doing for a few seconds, or minutes. If you like what you see you can click the heart. I watched one blogger take me round Ikea the other day, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to provide something a little more interesting from Israel. Follow me on there @VickyFlipFlop and you’ll get an alert when I start filming.

How to get Periscope

And of course, my Facebook page and Instagram account @VickyFlipFlop will be full of it all too.

So that’s where I’ll be for the next week – meeting cool people, seeing cool places and eating everything in sight.

Follow the VIBE Israel Facebook page to learn more.

Have you ever been to Israel?

OMG Vicky! I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Israel! I'll be following along on the hashtag for sure. I can't wait to see what adventures you have coming your way!

PS I was thinking about getting into Periscope too, but 3G in India can be a bugger. Maybe when I get to Vietnam, hey.

    Have fun, lovely! xx

Yeah I'm so excited to get stuck in! Just arrived at my hotel and it's super, super cool. Yeah I rinsed my 3G in Spain playing around with, think it takes quite a lot. I like the app though, when it works.

I will! Hope you are too. x

Israel will be amazing! I have a bunch of friends who took advantage of the BirthRight program to visit the "mother land" back in college. I just attended a casual freelancer group last night, and Periscope was a topic of convo, I can't wait until it's available for Android! I will follow ya once I have some damn access.

Ah yes, I've been learning all about that. Definitely an interesting concept. I haven't done too much with Periscope yet actually, it takes so much battery and data that I didn't realise. I'll hopefully get another one done soon. I did one of my room, it's in a really cool hotel right in the middle of Tel Aviv. Love it here so far :)
