Panasonic LUMIX GX80: The Montenegro Road Trip Test

Back in October I went to Montenegro for a few days, post Croatia, to road trip around the country. I took my new Panasonic LUMIX GX80 to test it out on the scenery when the (soft top!) car was moving and when we’d stopped to admire the view. I was there with my friend Jen, from, and we had a joyful time admiring the scenery as we went.

In case anyone is thinking about buying a new camera for Christmas I thought I’d take a look back and see how well those photos turned out, compared to my usual.

Here goes.

4k burst mode

One of the best features of the Panasonic Lumix GX80 camera is the 4K burst mode, so if you’re going to be using your camera to film any sports events, or quick action shots you can just press the shutter button down and it will keep taking photos until you release, meaning that you can then select your favourite photo from them and you’ll get it in action.

I was using it as I passed sights I wanted to photograph in the car. This led to a good choice of steady photos from what would otherwise have been blurred. It meant I had a choice from the photos I’d taken, and I chose the below.

Camera size

The Panasonic Lumix GX80 camera sits so well in your hand, and feels like a natural extension more than any other camera I’ve used. If you use a pancake lens, the camera is actually small enough to fit in your (large) pocket too, and really handy to fit in the old handbag and whip out at any opportunity too.

Photographing food

I used the same kit lens to photograph the food as I did to photograph the scenery – just to show you how versatile the lens is. I mean, maybe a risotto isn’t the prettiest of things to photograph, but you get the idea, yeah?

Loving the detail and blur it picks up.

And if you want to see how well the camera does in video, check out the little video I made here.

I also have the Panasonic Lumix G 20mm/F1.7 Pancake Lens, and as you can see from the 5-star reviews on Amazon, everyone else loves it too.
