Shark FlexBreeze Fan Review: 5 Ways It’s Made My Life Easier (and Cooler)

It’s been so hot in the south of England lately, and we’re set for more heat waves over the summer. We need to be prepared: and the Shark FlexBreeze fan is the answer in our house. It’s so portable and adaptable it works all over the house – let me show you.

Loving the new Shark fan

I’ve been testing the Shark FlexBreeze Fan from Very over the past few weeks. I thought it’d be great in my office but it’s actually been really useful for so many purposes around the hours.

My son loves it, He enjoys lying out in front of it in just his pants with the wind blowing his hair. But I love it too – it’s really helped after my running training and just in trying to stay cool in this 30C+ heat while I work.

Here are the top five ways we’ve been using the Shark FlexBreeze Fan in our house.

1. Keeping cool at the laptop

My office is being rebuilt after the ceiling fell in after a leak (months ago). So I’ve got a desk in the lounge which is usually decorated with Duplo or board games – though I moved the mess out of shot for this pic.

The fan makes a great addition to my desk and keeps me lovely and cool as the sun burns through the windows in the day.

Seeing as I’m in the lounge I’m often working on the sofa too – I know, terrible for my back. It can get very toasty between me and the laptop, but the Shark FlexBreeze is saving me from those uncomfortable lap sweats.

The difference is instant. Rather than feeling like I’m slowly overheating while trying to concentrate, I can actually get on with my work without constantly thinking about how hot I am.

For anyone who works from home, this alone justifies having one.

You can see on the two set ups that you can either use the attached tripod, or you can close up the tripod and use the stand instead – depending on the space you have available. So versatile.

Quick review of the Shark FlexBreeze Fan

Would I recommend it to you? 100%. I love this fan. This article has just a few scenarios to use it in, but it’s also great when you’re cooking, watching TV, drying your hair, getting flustered preparing to leave the house – any time!

Cost: £130+

Best for: multi-purposes. It’s so much better than other fans as it’s adapatable and you can move it round. It’s light and easy to carry.

Any negatives? Can’t think of one. It’s been an absolute saviour in this heat wave!

2. Reading with Reggie in the breeze

My son’s room is west facing and get’s the sun from around 3pm so by 7pm it has been roasting lately. Step up the Shark FlexBreeze.

It’s so chunky and well built I feel safe him having it in there (having said that, I do pinch it when I go to sleep – see below).

The fact that it tilts means we can aim it down at us when we’re reading in his reading den, and then aim it up towards his bed when it’s time to sleep. We normally have it on setting three, although he loves the top setting (there are five to switch between).

3. Making hot mornings more bearable

Sleeping is hard when it’s hot. Our room faces east – so it’s so hot in the morning. Even if it’s not too bad in the evening we have to be prepared for the early sunrise.

Look, you can see how much I love this in the pic below.

When it’s time for us to go to sleep – about two hours after Reggie – I’ve taken back the Shark FlexBreeze and set it up to cool us down first thing. It definitely takes the edge of that sun coming in in the morning.

4. Staying cool in the garden

The best thing about the Shark FlexBreeze is that it isn’t tied to one room. I can easily take it outside for a cold drink and ice lolly break. You know when you’re working inside all day and think how nice it’d be to be outside, and then you last two minutes because it’s too hot? Well, not with this fan.

There’s also an attachment you can connect to the hose to make a misting fan while you’re outside. Perfect for that extra cool down.

It’s particularly handy for a barbecue. Rather than sitting in full sun slowly roasting alongside the sausages, having a gentle breeze I can aim right at me makes being outside far more enjoyable.

One of those little luxuries you never knew you wanted but now can’t live without!

5. Cooling down after running

I’m currently training for a (potential) run later this year and, honestly, the recent heat has made things so much harder.

Coming back from a run feeling hot, sweaty and exhausted is one thing. Trying to cool down afterwards is another. Every week I’m running further than I have before and it makes me feel like my blood is boiling in my body.

The Shark FlexBreeze has become part of my post-run routine. After exercising, I stand in front of it for a few minutes while stretching and recovering, and it helps bring my temperature back down much more quickly than simply sitting indoors.

This week it’s been the thing I look forward to most about finishing a run.

Bonus use: Taking it for picnics

One use I wasn’t expecting when I was given the Shark FlexBreeze Fan to review was to be taking it outside.

It’s great for keeping cool on picnics at the park or for cooling down when you’ve been on a long walk and there’s not much natural breeze around. If it’s this hot when we go to the Isle of Wight next month I’ll be packing it in the car for sure.

Me in the park with a fan and a ball

Just another example of how versatile the Shark FlexBreeze is compared to a traditional fan that stays permanently plugged into one corner of the house.

It actually works from 15 metres away and there’s a remote, although careful taking that to the park. It just clips in at the back. The fan is also battery powered which you can charge from the mains which can last up to 24 hours depending on which settings you have it on.

Shark FlexBreeze Fan review

I love how adaptable the Shark FlexBreeze fan is. One day it’s helping me work comfortably at my desk, the next it’s making bedtime easier, and then it’s out in the garden during a barbecue.

Just the fan on the table with a hedge in the background

For me, that’s what makes it worth having. It’s not just a fan for one room or one situation. It’s a fan that fits into everyday life wherever you need a bit of extra cooling.

It feels so sturdy carrying it around and works so well. I never thought I’d be carrying a fan. like this to the park!

If this summer continues the way it’s started, it’s going to be getting a lot more use.

Is the Shark FlexBreeze worth it?

Absolutely yes. I mean, it’s proven it’s worth in this heatwave already, and if we’re set for more then honestly, it’s just going to be part of the family. I’ve been glued to it!

How do you use the Shark FlexBreeze outdoors?

You can just pull it off the stand by pressing in the button and then you can go. Easy. You just need to spread out the tripod and it’ll work right away, as long as you’ve charged it.

How long does the Shark FlexBreeze battery last?

Speed 1 (Lowest): Up to 24 hours
Speed 3 (Medium): Approx. 6 hours
Speed 5 (Maximum): Approx. 2 hours
But then that changes depending on whether you use the oscillating function too.

Very.co.uk sent me this fan to see what I thought – perfect timing, and I love it!
