What is at Southampton Airport?

Southampton Airport is more than just a gateway to exciting destinations; it’s also a well-equipped and traveller-friendly hub. From comfortable lounges and enticing dining options to convenient shopping and efficient services, this regional airport offers a range of amenities that cater to the needs and preferences of every passenger.

But, and most uniquely and wonderfully, on a much smaller scale.

Shopping at Southampton Airport

Shopping at Southampton Airport is pretty sparse – but that’s the beauty of it! You’ll find a Duty Free, a WHSmith, and that’s about it. No galleys of clothes and toys to work your way through here!

Just the essentials to pick up a few snacks, a magazine, or a book.

For those looking to indulge in some retail therapy, Southampton Airport features a selection of shops where you can find everything from books and magazines to gifts, beauty products, and more. Whether you’re in need of last-minute travel essentials or simply want to browse the books, the airport’s retail offerings have got you covered.

Restaurants at Southampton Airport

You’ve got a few choices when it comes to where to eat at Southampton Airport. There’s a Costa, the Olive Tree Restaurant, and an Olive Tree Coffee bar. That’s it!

Costa has all the coffee you could ever want, and sandwiches, cakes and croissants too. The Olive Tree coffee bar has coffees downstairs, and The Olive Tree Restaurant has a large area upstairs with a typical bar menu, including breakfast. When I went skiing in January, we ordered scrambled eggs which were pretty underwhelming, but the wraps and Full Englishes looked good.

They have a full bar, and serve the menu through the day.

Executive lounge at Southampton Airport

Travellers seeking a more luxurious and peaceful pre-flight experience can access the airport’s executive lounge – the Spitfire Lounge. This exclusive space provides a comfortable environment where passengers can unwind and relax before boarding their flight.

In the Spitfire Lounge you can enjoy complimentary refreshments, access to charging points, newspapers, magazines, and a serene atmosphere away from the ‘hustle and bustle’ of the main terminal.

Last time I was there (flying to Geneva in January) there was absolutely no hustle and bustle, and only about 10 flights on the board for the whole day. But, in the height of summer, this could be worth it.

The Spitfire Lounge offers great value for money.  Sit back, relax and enjoy our complimentary Breakfast or All Day Menu with a hot beverage, refreshing soft drink, chilled glass of wine or beer.

Adults (16+): £29
Children: £15
Babies (Under 3): Free

The Spitfire Lounge can be pre-booked in advance online up to 30 minutes before arrival.

Family-friendly facilities at Southampton Airport

Southampton Airport understands the importance of catering to families travelling with children. The airport features baby changing facilities across various locations, ensuring parents have convenient spaces to tend to their little ones’ needs.

Also, they have an adults toilet, in the baby changing room – which is so important, and Gatwick doesn’t seem to want to provide!

There’s no play area at Southampton Airport.

Special assistance at Southampton Airport

Ensuring a smooth and accessible experience for all passengers is a top priority at Southampton Airport. The airport offers a range of services for individuals with reduced mobility or specific accessibility requirements. Flying from Southampton Airport

I love flying from Southampton Airport – it’s so easy!

The only drawback is, usually, the price. We need a cheap flights provider down here!

Our tickets to Geneva were only £130 each, including luggage. If you can get deals like that, it’s totally worth it.

Southampton Airport’s compact terminal ensures that navigating through the airport is a breeze, with minimal walking distances and manageable crowd sizes. State-of-the-art security measures efficiently facilitate the screening process, allowing passengers to move swiftly through check-in and towards departure gates.

  1. If one is paying £29, the food & drink supplied in the Spitfire lounge cannot be considered “complimentary”; that’s what one has paid for!
