Honest Lagomandra Beach Hotel Review (Sithonia in Halkidiki, Greece)
We stayed at the Lagomandra Beach Hotel at the start of May, which we soon found out was a little premature. But, even though it was nippy (and rained!) I wanted to share our experience to help with the difficult choice between Halkidiki hotels…

The 4-star Lagomandra Beach Hotel is located on the first ‘finger’ as their known, of Halkidiki’s three. It’s just off the pine-shaded sandy shore of Lagomandra Beach, meaning you have both the hotel pools and the sea for your swimming.
We paid £110 on 5th May 2025 for one night, with breakfast and dinner for the three of us in a Junior Suite with Sea View.
There’s Lagomandra Beach Hotel, and then Lagomandra Hotel & Spa just behind. By staying at one, you get access to the facilities at both – bit of a bonus!

Our bedroom at Lagomandra Beach Hotel
We stayed in a ‘Junior Suite with Sea View’. There were so many different names for the rooms it was a tough call, but we just went for the most floor space seeing as there was three of us. It was clean and bright, with a large bathroom, a balcony and a fridge. We had a large double bed, and the sofa bed was made up for Reggie.

We did have a problem with the bathroom on the second day, in that the door wouldn’t open on the shower. They sent someone up straight away and he fixed it ASAP – which did end up being about an hour but these things happen, I guess.
The room also included air-con, a safe, and Wi‑Fi. Parking was free, and we got a space just outside the hotel (rather than in the car park over the road).
Pools at Lagomandra Beach Hotel
First off, Reggie and I were desperate to get in the pool. We could see it from our balcony and the fact no one was in it made me a little suspicious. We got changed, went down, poked our feet in, and yes, it was COLD.
We didn’t let that hold us back though, and in we jumped. The pool was a good size, with a shallower kiddie bit off the side but still connected.
There was a pool bar there serving very large servings of Prosecco, which I enjoyed thoroughly.
It was easy to get to the other hotel over the road, via a lift and a bridge – which of course my three year old loved. The Lagomandra Hotel & Spa’s pool was definitely better, but if you stay at the Lagomandra Beach Hotel, you’re obviously closer the beach, and have the better view from your balcony.

The Lagomandra Hotel & Spa’s pool was one big connected pool, but with different sections. You can’t actually see it on this photo but round the back was a kiddie pool that just went up to Reggie’s knees which was fun for him, but also, cold.
I actually loved the fresh feeling here, and seeing as it was cold – no one else was in it. Winner.
More things to do
At Lagomandra Hotel & Spa there was a great kiddie’s room where during peak season they have a kid’s club. In May you could just take the kids in yourself. Reggie loved this climbing wall, and running around in the shade.
There were arcade games outside, and a basketball court too.

The beach
The fact that the beach had pine trees meant, of course, that there were pine needles on the floor. We went to watch the sunset, which was beautiful, but the next day Reggie and Ben both woke up with many bites.
So many we had to get some cream from the pharmacy when we got back to Thessaloniki. When we told the pharmacist we’d been to Halkidiki she just nodded in understanding – probably wasn’t the best idea.

The beach did have a few Wendy houses to play on though, which was a lovely touch – just don’t go at sunset!

There was a kids entertainment programme at the hotel, which unfortunately didn’t run on a Monday when we were there.
Food and drink at the hotel
We had breakfast and dinner included in our £110 hotel price, which seemed a pretty good deal.
Breakfast was good – lots to choose from and eggs freshly cooked for you.
Dinner was ok for one night but I wouldn’t want to be staying all inclusive and having that every night. It wasn’t a patch on the hotel buffet at the Domes Hotel in the Algarve we recently enjoyed.

Drinks weren’t included in our half board rate either, unlike my recent hotel experience at the Alcudia Aparthotel in Majorca.
The hotel restaurant experience was fine for one night, but pretty soulless and the staff were uninterested. Was it the time of year? I don’t know.
Places to visit nearby
Stay at Lagomandra Beach Hotel and you’re in a great location for the delights of Sithonia in Halkidiki. Here are some of the great food experiences I had nearby…
Ergon Beach House in Nikiti
I went here last year when I was visiting the area on a press trip. Very cool.
We tried to go this year but it wasn’t opening for another two weeks or so, which was sad. So if you’re visiting Halkidiki in May bear it mind that some places don’t open till the end of the month.

Ergon Beach House has different types of accommodation for different budgets. My brother and his family did a boujis camping experience here last year and had a great time.
I’d love to stay here with Reggie some time. There’s an outdoor cinema, the sea, amazing food and lots of activities to enjoy. But mainly, it’s the food.
Velona in Nikiti
When we couldn’t get into the Ergon Beach House we went back into Nikiti town, about a four minute drive away and stumbled across Velona Beach Bar. It turned out to be an excellent choice – I was very happy with my salad. Ben had a pretty impressive looking club sandwich with fries too.
Weirdly it doesn’t seem to have a good TripAdvisor score but I’d actually say it was one of my favourite restaurant experiences on that whole week’s trip – looks like people had to wait too long for their receipts.

Anyway, Velona was right on the seafront and had sunbeds and lots (too many?!) of those rides for kids to play in nearby. We didn’t actually have any euros in cash but Reggie still had a great time playing on them all while we waited for our order.

Check out this post on some great places to eat in Halkidiki from when I visited the year before. I’d definitely recommend having a car to explore Sithonia’s best beaches and villages. Although I did see this bus schedule up at reception if you need public transport.
Lagomandra Beach Hotel review in a nutshell
The Lagomandra Beach Hotel was a great experience for what we wanted, which was an overnight trip out of Thessaloniki to see a bit more of the area. It was easy to get to in just over an hour from the city, with some beautiful views along the way and was a spacious, clean and fresh hotel to stay at.

I think if you were staying for longer you might be a bit frustrated at the fact you need a car, or a love of walking, to get anywhere. And I wouldn’t recommend staying all inclusive based on the dinner we had. I’d also recommend going from the end of May, rather than at the start.

- Perfect for: families, couples seeking chill beach time, part of a hotel hopping tour of Halkidiki.
- Not for: Budget travellers or those looking for vibrant nightlife or lots to do.
- Must pack: Swimwear, some euros for loungers and rides, reef shoes.
Gatwick airport parking and hotel
We flew to Thessaloniki from Gatwick – staying at the Bloc Hotel the night before. Have you seen my Reel about Bloc Hotel on Instagram? I actually think the Premier Inn is better if you’re staying with family, but Bloc is great if you’re solo.
We used ilovemeetandgreet.co.uk for our Gatwick parking. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past with other companies and valet parking, so I’m always a bit nervous but the ease of communication made I Love Meet and Greet stand out.

Booking was easy and then I phoned ten minutes before arrival to warn them we were coming. We were told to park just outside Premier Inn at the North Terminal and they were there waiting and ready to take the car. When we returned we phoned when we picked up our bags, and they were there about 15 minutes later. Smooth and easy – I’d definitely recommend them.
I Love Meet and Greet serve Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Birmingham and Manchester.
