What is the Root Chakra?

The Root Chakra is called the ‘Muladhara’ in Sanskrit. You’ll find this chakra located at the base of the spine and it’s linked with the element of earth. It’s essential to our foundation and represents our most basic wants and needs in life.

‘Muladharah’ means root in Sanskrit and is where grounding takes place. The colour of the Root Chakra is red and represents stability and the root of where you begin. The colour red is associated with earth, the stable ground, the root of where we grow from. 

The feeling of being safe and calm and grounded are aspects of the Root Chakra. It’s the chakra of security and our basic needs both physically and mentally.
