campervan in the car park

Enjoy camping and the great outdoors?

There’s something truly special about camping and spending time outdoors – a chance to unplug, breathe fresh air, and reconnect with nature. I think my childhood of holidays camping in Devon and Cornwall has set me to relish this kind of travel.

Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just starting to dip your toes into wild adventures, my outdoorsy posts are your guide to making the most of life under the open sky.

Campervanning advice

I love a campervan trip, although I’m yet to buy one. Next year?

For now I have to do with going with friends and hiring them out for the weekend. I love how easy it us to find a spot and just park up for an adventure, with everything you need at hand. This is the space for me to share what I’ve learned from all my campervan expeditions…

Camping and outdoors

For me, camping is the ultimate reset. I love waking up to the sound of birds instead of an alarm, cooking breakfast in the fresh air, and watching the sky change colour as the sun sets.

There’s something grounding about swapping four walls for a tent and realising how little you actually need.

I enjoy the freedom to pitch up somewhere new, spend days hiking or swimming, and nights gathered around a fire. Being outdoors makes me feel lighter, happier, and more present – and those simple moments, away from screens and schedules, are the ones I treasure the most.

Paddleboarding guides

Paddleboarding is one of the most relaxing – and surprisingly addictive – ways to get out on the water. It’s easy to learn, great for building balance, and works for all ages and abilities. I love a pootle on the beach down in Southsea, and getting on the waterways around Hampshire. Here are all my top tips for making the most of your board.

5 Top Tips for Getting Outside More

If you want to spend more time out camping and outdoors here’s my advice on making it happen.

  • Schedule outdoor time
Treat spending time outside like any other important appointment. Block out regular slots in your week for walks, hikes, or simply sitting in the park.
  • Start small
You don’t need a big adventure to enjoy nature. Even stepping out for 10 minutes to breathe fresh air or stretch can make a difference and build the habit.
  • Find a buddy
Whether it’s a friend, family member, or pet, having someone to share outdoor time with makes it more fun and keeps you motivated.
  • Mix outdoor activities with your interests
Combine hobbies like photography, reading, or yoga with outdoor time to make it more appealing and rewarding.
  • Explore local green spaces
Discover parks, trails, or community gardens near you. Exploring new spots close to home can keep things fresh and exciting without a big time commitment.
