1. The Linney, Ilfracombe, North Devon 

Set on a hillside overlooking the spectacular North Devon coast, this wonderful cottage boasts contemporary interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and heated terracotta flooring, inside a rustic barn conversion. If you’re looking for cottages with sea views, this one’s a stunner!

Located between the bays of Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, The Linney Cottage is set in a private field area within Lyford Farm. This is the perfect location for those looking to enjoy the peace of the countryside, while also being by the coast. There’s a little farm shop a short walk down the hill, selling seasonal produce, and Berrynarbor is the closest village, which gladly has a pub. However, as the cottage is set away from the hustle and bustle of the town you’ll need transport to reach it, and to explore the local area and the gorgeous sandy beaches of North Devon.

2. The Summer House, Perranporth, North Cornwall 

Set between rolling countryside and stunning views of the sea, this cosy little cabin-style cottage is perfect for couples looking for a romantic break surrounded by nature.

3. St Catherine’s House, Tenby, South Wales 

This elegant Georgian terraced cottage is located opposite one of Tenby’s first-rate Blue Flag beaches with direct views across the water to St Catherine’s Island and includes a private beach entrance from the back of the cottage. This is one of the best cottages with sea views in the UK.

This pretty cottage based in Brixham, South Devon, is spacious and light, with salty sea breezes wafting in from the marina directly opposite. Set over four floors The Foxes Cove can sleep six people and with its central town location it is ideal for anyone wanting to get away to the sea while being close to the hustle and bustle of Brixham. 

Watch fishing boats and yachts come and go from the marina with a plate of fish and chips or take a stroll to the nearby pretty coves of Fishcombe and Churston, to skim a pebble or have a quiet moment watching the water. The town of Brixham itself is very enjoyable to explore and has many lovely restaurants and pubs as well as being home to the National Trust holiday home of famous author Agatha Christie.

5. Erica, Cawsand and Kingsand, South Cornwall 

Set practically on the beach, this quaint little cottage located in the twinned villages of Cawsand and Kingsand is the perfect coastal retreat.

6. Longdown Hall, Ventnor, Isle of Wight 

Located on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight, this light and airy cottage has a wonderful terrace, a lowered lawn area, and delightful 180-sea views to enjoy the sun and sea air. Inside the cottage has been nicely decorated with wooden furniture and hues of light blue and whites, giving the interior a Scandi feel. There are 3 bedrooms, with the master bedroom at the top of the cottage including an en-suite and large windows that have uninterrupted views over the sea. The kitchen-dining area is open plan and opens up onto the terrace for al-fresco dining, making this cottage an excellent place to stay with friends or family. 

There’s lots to do to explore the area and some of the best things to do on the Isle of Wight are based around here. Enjoy some of the best restaurants in the Isle of Wight and sample the local seafood by taking a short walk down to the seafront where you will find many restaurants and cafes serving freshly caught fish and shellfish.

Ventnor is also known for its micro-climate, with the longest daylight hours on the whole island. Make sure to take advantage of this during your trip by grabbing a deckchair and soaking up the sun on the red shingle and golden sand beach. It’s the perfect place to base yourself for a week or weekend on the Isle of Wight.

7. Heron’s Rest, North of Dartmouth, South Devon

If you are looking for a secluded cottage stay with dramatic views of the sea then look no further than Heron’s Rest. The cottage is tucked away on the Greenway Estate, which is a National Trust site and a short walk will take you to the foot ferry, where you can catch a boat to Dittisham, a pretty village set on the River Dart. Catch a bite to eat at the lovely Ferry Boat Inn before heading back to the cottage for a cup of tea looking over the scenic valley. 

The cottage also includes under-floor heating and is fitted with central heating so it is a perfect retreat regardless of the season.
