Comin’ to America?

I’ve spent well over a year of my life in the USA and have a lot to say. What with summer camp, USA road trips, camping adventures and three months exploring the music cities, it’s safe to say I love America. The National Parks and US coastline are hard to beat.

Here you’ll find all my USA travel blogs – packed with tips, itineraries and personal stories from exploring coast to coast. Whether you’re dreaming of an epic USA road trip, a weekend city break in New York or Houston, or an adventure through the national parks, I’ve got guides to help you plan it. From quirky small towns to bucket-list landmarks, these blogs cover the best places to visit, how to get around, and how to make the most of your time (and budget) in the States.

Behind the Adventures

Visiting the USA

America might just be one of the best countries in the world for a holiday. You can hike through jaw-dropping national parks one week, then lose yourself in the buzz of a big city the next.

I’ve road-tripped along iconic highways, danced at incredible music festivals, and eaten my way through food-truck heaven. From the soulful streets of New Orleans to the epic things to see in Chicago an onto a music tour in Memphis, there’s so much to do in the US.

Visiting California?

In California you can road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway, hike in Yosemite’s granite peaks, sip wine in Napa Valley, and wander the star-studded streets of Los Angeles. It was my dream to visit California when I was at school, now I can see I’ve been about ten times!

From theme parks to wild deserts, California’s mix of nature, culture, and sunshine makes it a dream destination year-round.

There’s so much to do in Florida

Florida is where sunshine, adventure, and scream if you want to go faster magic meet. Spend days exploring world-famous theme parks in Orlando, relaxing on the white sands of the Gulf Coast, or discovering the vibrant culture of Miami. Venture into the wild Everglades, snorkel in the Florida Keys, or take a road trip to charming coastal towns.

Florida is so much more than even this though, which you’ll come to know when you get stuck into the amazing foodie options in the state – there’s a reason it’s so popular!

Top tips for travelling to the USA

  • Check USA entry requirements early
Most UK travellers need an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before visiting America. Apply online at least 72 hours before your flight, and check your passport is valid for the entire stay.
  • Plan for long distances
The United States is huge. Driving between cities can take days, so consider internal flights for cross-country journeys. Factor in travel time when planning your USA itinerary.
  • Book internal flights in advance
Flight prices within the USA can soar, especially around public holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Booking early can save a lot of money.
  • Understand tipping culture
Tipping is expected across the USA . In restaurants, 15–20% is standard. Don’t forget taxi drivers, hotel staff, and bartenders too.
  • Pack for multiple climates
You might experience warm beaches in Florida and snowy mountain towns in Colorado on the same trip. Pack versatile clothing and layers.
  • Get comprehensive travel insurance
Healthcare costs in the USA are among the highest in the world. A solid travel insurance policy is non-negotiable.
  • Know the road rules
If you’re hiring a car in the US, brush up on their driving laws. Speed limits and rules can vary between states. Always carry your driving licence and insurance documents.
  • Use City Passes for sightseeing
Destinations like New York, Chicago, Vegas, and San Francisco offer attraction passes that bundle entry to top sights at a discounted rate.
  • Try regional food specialities
Every state has its own signature dish – think deep-dish pizza in Chicago, seafood boil in New Orleans, or barbecue in Texas.
  • Slow down your itinerary
America is made for slow travel. Instead of cramming in too many destinations, allow time to explore neighbourhoods, meet locals, and soak in the atmosphere. Visit somewhere you’ve vaguely heard of – Chattanooga perhaps?
